Welcome to the world of hyperbaric oxygen therapy
1. What is hyperbaric oxygen therapy?
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy
(HBOT) is breathing 100% oxygen at a pressure greater than sea level atmospheric
pressure (1 ATA). It involves the use of a pressurized chamber for human
occupancy and masks or hoods for breathing 100% oxygen.
2. What are the benefits of using HBOT?
- Increases neuronal energy
metabolism in the brain.
- Can create sustained cognitive
improvement.
- Wakes up sleeping (idling)
brain cells that are metabolizing enough to stay alive but are not actively
"firing".
- Enhances the body's ability
to fight bacterial and viral infections.
- Deactivates toxins and
poisons (e.g. side effects from some chemotherapy, spider bites, air
pollution, etc.)
- Enhances wound healing
stimulates new capillaries into wounds.
- Creates an immediate aerobic
state.
3. How does HBOT work for brain injury and/or stroke?
Results vary significantly
depending on the age of the patient, time since injury, size and location
of brain tissue destruction in the brain, and how the brain reorganized
itself after the injury. Some people begin to get results after 4 or 5
treatments. Some after 40 treatments, and some people need even more,
and a few people get very little results as in any medical treatment.
4. If my condition is not listed on your site, can hbot help?
Research continues worldwide
and some conditions not listed on our site could currently be under research.
Call our staff to find out if your condition is being currently treated.
