Welcome to the world of hyperbaric oxygen therapy
Benefits of Hyperbaric Oxygen
Therapy
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HbOT)
deals with breathing 100% oxygen at a pressure greater than sea level
atmospheric pressure (1 ATA "Atmosphere Absolute").
Beginning with pressurized
tanks over a century ago for divers and later caisson workers, research
from all over the world has led to "oxygenation under pressure" therapy.
It is now used for an expanding variety of illnesses and conditions.
Negative physiological changes
occur when O2 levels are impeded to tissues. Red blood cells
deliver a limited level of oxygen to tissue cells in the first place.
Injuries, infections and diseases can cause a drop in tissue oxygen level
to almost zero.
Under pressure (at 1.5 ATA
and above), oxygen causes a myriad of positive responses in tissues
and systems throughout the body. Optimal tissue healing occurs
when this pressure causes the Po2 (tissue oxygen pressure) to rise
to 80mm Hg.
Even when administered conservatively,
(where it produces little or no adverse side effects), HbOT dramatically:
- removes free radicals
- reduces tissue swelling
- increases neuronal energy
metabolism in the brain
- can create sustained cognitive
improvement
- wakes up sleeping (idling)
brain cells that are metabolizing enough to stay alive but are not actively
"firing".
- enhances the body's ability
to fight bacterial and viral infections
- deactivates toxins and poisons
(e.g. side effects from some chemotherapy, spider bites, air pollution,
etc.)
- enhances wound healing,
(stimulates new capillaries into wounds).
- creates an immediate aerobic
state
- acts as an anti-inflammatory
